Hatfield Forest

For a quieter escape, Hatfield Forest is an ancient royal hunting forest cared for by the National Trust. Its woodland, grassland, lake and historic trees make it a lovely choice for a walk, a picnic or some time outdoors before or after a flight.

The Stansted Express connects the airport with London Liverpool Street in around 48 minutes, with trains generally running every 15 minutes during the day. Timetables can change, so check your return service before heading into the city.

From Liverpool Street, you can continue by Tube, bus or on foot to attractions including the Tower of London, St Paul's Cathedral, the British Museum, Buckingham Palace and the West End. London deserves a full day if possible, especially when you need to return to Stansted for a flight.
