Roadworks near Glasgow Airport

If you're heading to Glasgow Airport using the M8 during the summer months please be advised of extensive roadworks that are likely to impact on journey times.

Work on a section on the M8 to the West of Glasgow will start on June 29th. The seven week programme will run into the middle of August and restore a 3km section of the west-bound carriageway between M77 junction (J22) and the off-slip for the Clyde Tunnel (J25). A contraflow will run on the eastbound carriageway and a reduced speed limit of 40 mph will be in place and enforced by average speed cameras.

A £1.6 million upgrade on two bridges that carry roads over the M8 in Bishopton, near junctions 30 and 31 of the motorway is due to begin on July 1st 2007. The work will last for 12 weeks and will strengthen bridge columns and replace service duct covers. Work will require M8-M898 Erskine Bridge slip roads to be closed to traffic for periods. The westbound off-slip will be closed for the first three weeks and the eastbound on-slip will be closed for the second three. Traffic management will be in place between junctions 30 and 31 with the speed limit reduced to 50 mph.

If you're travelling to Glasgow Airport during this period please remember to allow extra journey time or use an alternate route to avoid delays. Be sure to check back with us for further updates and fantastic prices on airport parking and hotels across the UK.
