Long Stay Newcastle Airport Parking is easy as is exiting the car park in the car. The problem (as elderly passengers) we have is moving the cases from the car to the main footpath. The gravel car park is not really good for this and it would be more appreciated if proper walkways were introduced to save having to squeeze around cars or walk a long way to the end of the line to exit. Long Stay Newcastle Airport Arriving at the airport Long Stay car park was well signed outside the park, but not inside, and surfaces were poor and potholed. Arriving back at the airport after our holiday at night, there are no signs in the terminal to say where the shuttle buses are, and outside the terminal the bus stop was cordoned off due to roadworks. No one except regular Newcastle customers had any idea where the buses would stop, and we waited 15 minutes to find out. The bus driver, however, was extremely helpful and courteous. We had just missed the shuttle bus so decided to walk the short distance to the airport ....the kind shuttle bus driver however, stopped to let us on when he passed. Coming back was easy too ....the bus was right outside and no need to have tickets validated or anything. Did not enjoy: Despite a sign at the bus stop telling us to speak to the controller to request a bus on following your instruction we were told in no uncertain terms "the bus goes round in a loop!" Then on calling at the office to exit the car park I found the man in the office very blunt & patronising. How to improve - had a ten minute wait for the bus on return home, previous experiences are the bus is more regular. We were away for 1 week, during that time the bus shelter numbers were changed without any information to the change given to customers, this led to confusion as to where we were parked on our return. The exit area at Newcastle airport is confusing, it was dark when we departed, there are 4 barrier exits, two for long stay customers, alongside 2 for medium stay customers, this is NOT clearly marked as such other than on closer inspection there is a sticker sign saying so however you are at the barrier before even noticing the signs, cannot reverse to another barrier due to traffic behind can cause mayhem. A sign above the roadway on the approach would simply remove this confusion or make the 4 barriers available for any vehicle whether long stay or medium stay. Other users were similarly confused. Long Stay Newcastle Airport Have used Airparks a lot over recent years and the set up is much improved now that vehicle recognition cameras are installed at exits which allows for a speedy departure. The long stay car park at Newcastle is very close to the terminal building so a steady walk or courtesy coach makes access very easy. I was slightly disappointed on this occasion with the cost of the car park for a 2 night stay (£34). I usually travel for at least a week and the weekly cost is not much more, usually around the £40 mark, so I think costs could be reviewed for people who like to do mini-breaks. This is the second time I have used this car park and on both occasions I have had to get out of the car at the barrier and have my ticket authorised, yet the literature states that you should drive up to the barrier , insert ticket and you will be allowed to exit. Long Stay Newcastle Airport Easy to book BUT the last two times I have used the car park my ticket has been rejected at the barrier. When this happens the driver has to leave the car and go into the office (blocking the exit). The explanation it seems is that the registration number is not recognised I.e. The letter O has been wrongly input at 0 (zero) , I assume by office staff because I do know my own registration number. Please resolve this annoying problem with inputting data. Long Stay Newcastle Airport My husband is wheelchair bound and we normally get a taxi to/from the airport to Tynemouth where we live. It can be quite a hassle if we can't get an adapted vehicle. A friend suggested we take the car - I wasn't keen, only because I'd never done it before but decided to give it a try. The cost would be the same as a return taxi fare for the week we'd be away. Parking was no problem and the shuttle bus only took a couple of minutes. When we returned, however, it was pitch dark, pouring down with rain and we'd just missed a shuttle bus and had to wait another 10 mins or so. I realised there area the following day when I recieved the confirmation. This is when I discovered that my reservation was not cancelable and not changeable. This was not made clear at the point of sale. However when speaking to your company I found them to be very helpful and kind. They changed my servation but I still had to pay double. This was disappointing as I had the same space available on a competitors website for £2 more then the one week fare for two weeks. I felt tricked into purchasing my car parking space. However, we really struggled to find a space, a number of the parking areas were closed off and marked full although we could see a space or two. The areas that were open we toured around for about 30 minutes before we got a space. The parking bays are tight and we returned to s car door ding on our 3 month old car. We couldn't see any cctv cameras covering the park so feel that it's not as safe as it should be. The ding couldn't have been made by the car parked next to us on our return. There seem to be wooden fences in the way of getting to the bus stop meaning we had to walk round with heavy bags. The bus took ages to get to us, it was parked at the far side in full view for too long without picking anyone up. Long Stay Newcastle Airport Used your service twice in a week - first time for short stay and it went completely smoothly and extremely efficiently. Second time was for long stay and was not so good. Car registration number recognition did not work so the wrong ticket printed out which meant we had to go to customer services before parking which resulted in us being advised to drive the wrong way down the one way lane after this back to the carparks, and then having to go to customer services again after our trip. Take a ticket park your vehicle and it is so close to the terminal you can walk if you don't want to wait for a bus. Leaving was easy as well, put your ticket in the exit barrier and drive away.
