Up-to-date road signs led us to the most easily available spaces. Maximum of 5 minutes wait at the bus stop and a single-decker bus with plenty of space arrived and in another 5 minutes we were at the terminal. The return to collect the car was just as easy. However, the main problem is waiting for a long term car park bus BACK to the carpark. These are never as frequent as the ones to the airport. On arrival home it was pouring with rain (not your fault) the park was very dark, more lighting would be a big help and the size of the puddles were huge, so people arriving home would have soaking wet feet whilst walking back to the cars. Long Stay South Gatwick Airport When travelling for a while security of one's car is a concern. The Long Stay car park at Gatwick proved an ideal solution. It was easy to book and pay for on line. It is very close to the departures/arrivals area. The transfer buses were frequent and efficient on both departure and arrival - even at midnight. The two week cost was roughly the same as a return taxi journey and we had the added bonus of the convenience of operating to our own time scale. However, having paid in advance, when I returned from my holiday late at night and attempted to exit the parking area, the ticket machine refused my exit request because the sum of approximately £65 needed to be paid. I then had to press the customer service button at the barrier and speak to an assistant in order to be "released". I forgot which area of the car park I had left my car in but by using the intercom system situated in every bus stop in the car park I contacted the customer services and within 2 mins and a little information from me i.e. Date and time of my arrival they told me in which zone I had parked in, then contacted the next bus to drop me there. Long Stay South Gatwick Airport I don't think this is a part of your travel itinerary that you need to enjoy. It just has to be given to you to make the airport arrival as seamless as possible. I use airparks regularly and most occasions run very smoothly. If I had to mention an area of improvement, it would be when there is a lot of cars arriving at the same time, the buses could contact each other to forward the next bus immediately when the bus stop has too many passengers for the arriving bus to take on board.
