We will continue to use Airparks as our parking provider. If you wished to improve, you could make each parking space a little larger, as modern vehicles tend to be longer and wider. Mid Stay 1 East-midlands Airport The only gripe that I have is that the final direction sign before the car park is at a junction before the actual entrance and I spotted two vehicles in front of me go down the wrong road, turn around and get it right at the second attempt - if I hadn't spotted them, I might have done the same myself - to correct this, the sign needs moving just a few yards past this previous junction. On return from my trip on 16/10/17 I tried to exit the carpark several times with the 'chip' provided. This did not work and, despite the fact that I had pre-booked and prepaid, a message that I had to pay £55 or some similar amount was repeatedly displayed on the screen. At this point at least 2 vehicles were impatiently queuing behind me.I called the assistance button and after an unusually long wait a monotone voice went through the motions of allowing me to exit. This has happened before but on this occasion it was particularly disappointing which is why I am bringing it to your attention. I have been using your service for many years and will continue to do so but unfortunately on this occasion I feel moved to comment on my most recent experience. I feel that if it was an inexperienced or elderly traveller then it may have caused them unnecessary concern. Please accept my comments as constructive criticism rather than a complaint. There has occasionally been a problem entering the car park that has been booked but lately this has not been an issue. My last trip, returning on 16/10/17, I was unable to exit the car park as the automated machine refused exit and instructed me to pay £55. I had pre-booked and pre-paid and not outside the pre-booked time so was a little disturbed and annoyed that I was not able to exit immediately. After 4 attempts to exit I had to call an anonymous voice to seek assistance. I was eventually allowed to leave but without explanation or any kind of apology. This has happened twice before but on this occasion I have decided to highlight the issue to your selves. Quite disappointed with the 'exit' experience. We walked with our cases for about 7 minutes to the departure terminal. On returning we faced no problems finding our car and exiting the car park for our short journey home to Derby. Mid Stay 1 East-midlands Airport We had a bad experience with the parking at East Midlands Airport. All our literature stated that we were in Long Stay 3 - but this parking area does not exist. When we arrived at the airport we looked for Long Stay 3 but could not find this area after looking for 20 minutes. My wife had to get out of the car and go into the terminal building to sort this out. We had been allocated a place in Mid Stay 1. This took a further 15 minutes to sort out. This delay caused my wife and myself to go to check in later than anticipated resulting in the fact that we were no longer allocated seats together on the flight. I would sort this out to prevent anyone possibly missing their flight due to the mix up in the paperwork. Mid Stay 1 East-midlands Airport It was great to be able to book in advance and then use Long Stay Car Park 3 which we knew was just a short walk to the Terminal at East midlands. We arrived and drove straight in and easily found a place to park. On our return we had trouble leaving. The system failed to recognise our car and the barrier would not lift. we tried various ways of exiting including several approaches from different angles. I pulled back and only then in my headlight did we see the 'phone link' to an operator. One contact was made he promptly opened the barrier and we were away. It was a tad frustrating which might have been resolved if the panel had been better illuminated with instructions being clearer. Although no information relating to bus service, after waiting at bus stop in the pouring rain for ten minutes we decided there was probably not a bus coming and had to walk in the pouring rain with all our luggage. Just a 5 minute walk to the terminal and when we arrived back, the number plate recognition worked perfectly again and we were on our way in seconds. Would definitely use this again. Mid Stay 1 East-midlands Airport I Was quite happy with the experience as an whole my only complaint is what was said on the list of instructions did not happen i.e. should get a token to get back out then when you get to the gat it says if you've pre-booked the parking you don't need a token this was rather worrying for me as I had a late night landing and thought I might not get back out of carpark without token. but in the end barrier lifted ok to get in and same to get out all good so very happy if instruction get improved. I strolled past the long queues of tired people who were going nowhere fast and breezed through security...
