In the new long stay car park we stayed in this time we couldn't see anything to help identify where we had parked our car. On this occasion we were delayed by nearly 13 hours but Cardiff Airport did not charge for the extra stay and just opened the barrier for us which we were really pleased about (although I had taken out delayed flight cover with Airparks and of course didn't need to use it). On the last three occasions we have had to use the operating machine to allow the barrier to rise on leaving. Our online booking shows the correct number and we always have the reference with us. On the return from holiday the barrier again did not raise automatically. I had to insert the ticket from my entry which informed me that I had to pay £75 before I could leave. Long Stay 2 Cardiff Airport This was my time using Long Stay 2 at Cardiff. It is very close to the terminal, so close that it doesn't really require the bus transfer. I only used it because I was travelling with a bike (bulky box). The car park was quiet with lots of easy parking and the bus came within a few seconds. The bus stop for the return could have been signposted better, and so could the bus itself...lots of people were asking which bus it was because its not clear from the sign above the cab. If there was a bus like it used to be even if it was just used in the rain it would have been great. We will be using the park again but if you could try and see if this can be done we would be very happy . I was told when I got back to go to desk and they would validate ticket, which happens each time I use the car park. which is convenient when desk is inside the airport building. However this time we had to drag our cases down to a portacabin as advised on the desk that was in the airport. This meant we were no where near the bus to get the bus to the car. The guy on the desk said we could have just buzzed at the exit. Maybe that should be written at the airport desk save trailing down to the portacabin, especially if raining and with small children. The long stay entrance was not clearly enough distinguished from the adjacent short stay; worn markings on the road were not clear behind other traffic - an eye-level sign is needed. The walking route was badly signed at the start although fine once on the track out of the carpark. there was a bus wandering around but we couldn't see where it would pick up so walked with a heavy case to the airport in the drizzle. As I parked close to the steps at a near point to the terminal It only took me about 5 minutes to walk to the terminal. This meant I did not have to rely on the bus service. Coming home from the holiday especially late at night was again it was just a short walk back to the car. My suggestion for an improvement would be to put a walk up ramp at the bottom end. Long Stay 2 Cardiff Airport The site was convenient for the terminal (a short walk). However, when we arrived it was pouring with rain and there was no covered walk way or shuttle so we were soaked and so were our cases by the time we reached departures. Also on our return when we inserted the ticket the machine told us we owed £110 even though we'd pre paid. For a pensioner by herself with laden trolley, getting uphill to the terminal is very difficult, returning home and going downhill is nearly as bad when you are tired after travelling. Park 2 appears to be all on the flat & no further. Further comment, on original arrival barrier wouldn't go up, problem caused by O & 0, on my booking, my reg.no. has an O. However, when my flight times were altered by two hours several weeks prior to departure, I spoke to one of your representatives who assured me that there would be no need to adjust the agreed times. Unfortunately, the return trip was further delayed by an extra hour due to a passenger having to be unloaded because of ill health. On arrival back in the country, I was forced to pay extra £5.00 to remove my vehicle ... it was not the amount, but more the principle of the situation, and the lack of understanding and goodwill from your operatives at the airport. We used the long stay which is walkable distance from departures but the shuttle bus arrived at exactly the right time so we got on that instead. The driver was helpful and friendly and we got to the terminal building really quickly. On the way back, I needed help with my ticket and the member of staff I spoke to was really approachable, knowledgeable and very efficient. Long Stay 2 Cardiff Airport having used airparks 8 times last year ,this being the 9th,i think you should have informed me that the barrier no longer realises registration of car at second barrier,that you now have to take a ticket...this would have caused a lot less grief..people think we ve paid for car parking and when we arrive ,have to take ticket and it says on barrier how much a day it cost.i d like to know if its cheaper just to pay daily or book online.it would have been cheaperif i d taken ticketand not booked online..advertised at 3.50 a day,i paid over 50 pounds.also,i think airparks should have a policy to get passengers from terminal to car easier..the bus is a long walk from terminal,especially for people like myself and partner..who have walking difficulties..we get special assistance to get to plane but not to get back to car.very disappointed by that service.we should ,being blue badge holders,be able to leave our cars in disability parking spaces nearer the airport and be given help with luggage to get to our cars..this is not taken into account,and booking online offers no choice.
