Luton airport reopens

[February 6, 2009]

Luton airport has reopened after snow caused a second day of disruption.

The airport reopened at 1.15pm. However, most flights are still subject to delays and cancellations.

All departures and arrivals were suspended this morning and more than 40 flights have been cancelled.

Traffic in the area around the airport is also severely disrupted, and Airparks buses are taking more than an hour to get to and from the terminal.

Airparks is advising passengers flying from the airport to park at the airport if they can get there. Passengers who need to get back to Airparks should wait at the airport until the buses can get through.

Greenline and National Express coach services and the rail shuttle bus to the airport are currently not running.

Passengers are being advised to contact their airline and check public transport and road conditions before travelling to the airport.

For a list of cancelled flights visit the Luton airport website.

The snow has caused disruption at airports across the UK today and yesterday.

Stansted, Heathrow and Birmingham all suffered disruption today, with Bristol so severely affected that all flights are suspended until 4pm.

Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, East Midlands, Inverness and Leeds Bradford airports suffered disruption yesterday.
