Canary Island's Driving Conditions
Driving is on the right, not a problem for most nationalities, British drivers should initially take a little extra care. All road signs are international. Petrol stations (Gasolinaria's) tend to be on the Motorways rather than in towns. The condition of the roads vary from island to island but generally roads are well maintained asphalt roads. Most side roads are also in good condition. The smaller roads are often dirt tracks. The roads mainly follow the contours of the mountains. There are often spectacular views but not always laybys to stop and appreciate them.If you are unfortunate enough to become involved in a road accident and someone is injured - An ambulance will be called, from either, a private medical centre, or Spanish centro de Salud, they are well versed in dealing with your insurance company.
