Before Boarding at Southampton Airport


Check-in times will depend on which airline you are flying with, but as a general guide, passengers should expect check-in desks for international flights to open 2 hours prior to departure, and 1 hour for UK & Ireland flights.

Southampton Airport now offer online check-in for passengers flying with some airlines, but it is important to still arrive in good time to drop bags, collect boarding cards and arrive at your departure gate. Some airlines offer a self-service check-in service which is designed to save time by printing our boarding card and using the fast bag drop desk.

Parking

Southampton Airport parking options include both Park and Ride and Meet and Greet options. There is a transfer service from the Long Stay Car Park every 5-10 minutes, which takes approximately 5 minutes. You can either pre-book spaces online or just pay a “turn up” rate (with a minimum stay of 3 days). The Short Stay Car Park is located opposite the terminal, and no pre-booking is required.

Hold Luggage

There are some items which cannot be taken onto an aircraft and passengers should ensure that these items are not packed into hand luggage or hold luggage. A detailed list of prohibited items is available from the airport.

Please ensure that loose straps are tied up, flaps are securely fastened, extendable handles are secured, and old tags are removed.

Hand Luggage & Liquids

Southampton Airport do not have a limit on the number of items of hand luggage per person, however individual airlines might so it is important to check with your operator. Your airline may also enforce restrictions on the size of your hand luggage, so ensure that you are aware of these before passing security.

There is a restriction on the amount of liquids allowed through security. All liquids must be in 100ml containers, and these containers carried in a transparent, re-sealable, plastic bag.

Boarding

Once you have passed through security control, you should make yourself aware of your boarding time, and make your way to the departure gate within plenty of time. Boarding usually starts around 45 minutes before departure.
