Before Boarding at Cardiff Airport

Here are some things to consider before boarding at Cardiff Airport:

Online Check-in

Cardiff Airport are offering online check-in to offer passengers a more efficient service, and avoiding traditionally long queues at the check-in desks. This service is not suitable for all passengers, only those travelling with hand luggage only.

Parking

There are a few Cardiff Airport parking options, one being Airparks Cardiff which is located a short transfer away from the terminal at Cardiff Airport. The car park is fully secure, with security fencing, flood lights, 24 hour patrols and CCTV. Airparks Cardiff has won awards for safe parking and security. Transfers from the car park to the airport terminal take just three minutes, and operate as standard every 30 minutes between 4.00am and 11.15pm, but are available upon request.

Check-in Bags

It is important that you check your baggage allowance with your travel agent or airline as the allowance can vary depending on airline operator. Handling agents must be notified of oversized or unusual luggage prior to departure.

Hand Luggage and Liquids

There are strict rules at Cardiff Airport about taking liquids through security so it is advised that you pack all of your gels, lotions, and liquid solid mixtures into your checked-in luggage. You are limited to 10 x individual100ml containers packaged in a re-sealable, transparent, plastic bag. Appropriate plastic bags are available from dispensing machines at Cardiff Airport, 4 for £1.

Security

Cardiff Airport is pioneering a brand new service in cooperation with the UK Border Agency. This new system will include ePassport Gates at passport control which can be used by anyone over 18, holding a chipped passport. Staff will be on hand to offer and help and advice, and will also continue to carry out manual check.

Gate and Boarding

The departure area at Cardiff International Airport will depend on your airline and destination, but all passengers are advised to check the television monitors closely for boarding time and gate number. Boarding normally starts around 45 minutes prior to departure. Passengers are advised to arrive at the gate within plenty of time of departure.
